The Indian team led by Virat Kohli has smashed the Aussie brigade yesterday at The Oval, in London.
The blue brigade, batting at first, scored 352 for a loss of 5 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan played a terrific inning of 117 runs while the captain of the team, Virat contributed 82 runs in 77 balls. 57 runs came from vice-captain Rohit Sharma’s bat.
Australians, on the other hand, could not secure their place very well in front of outstanding bowling and fielding of the Indian team. Steve Smith and David Warner scored 69 and 56 respectively and apart from them, none could contribute significantly to the scoreboard. Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept continuous pressure on the opponent and bagged three wickets each while Yuzvendra Chahal managed to take 2 wickets.
In the end, Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ honor.
The pace with which Indian team is advancing towards the top of the point table, Indians are surely expecting a ray of hope to be tagged as the world champion once again.
